The York Outer Neighbourhood Policing Team have launched Op Harmony in response to a recent rise in reports of anti-social behaviour involving young people.
The operation focuses on strengthening multi-agency partnerships and deploying highly visible officers to key areas to engage with individuals.
These are those previously identified as being involved, or likely to be involved in ASB, as well as businesses and residents affected by such activity.
Acting Police Sergeant Ben Ambler of the York West Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “The behaviour that has occurred in recent weeks is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
“I want to reassure the local community that proactive and robust steps have been put in place to address these issues.
He added: “A number of youths have been arrested and/or interviewed in relation to recent spates of assaults, criminal damage and thefts and individuals that have been identified as being involved in anti-social behaviour have been visited.
“They have been issued with warning letters and banning notices for local businesses.“
Officers will continue to patrol areas affected by ASB and where possible take positive action, they say, utilising relevant powers, including dispersals.
Acting Police Sergeant Ben Ambler said: “We will also work closely with the City of York council, schools, social care, local businesses and other partner agencies to address these issues.”
