Police were called after a fire in a York play area last night (Wednesday).
Acomb firefighters responded to a discarded Christmas tree on fire in a play area off Old School Walk, York at 5.31pm.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The fire was out prior to their arrival and crews carried out an inspection to ensure there was no further risk of fire spread.

“The incident was left with police who were speaking with youths in the area as the fire was believed to had been deliberate.”
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We received a report at 5.37pm that youths have deliberately started a fire on the play park on Old School Walk just off Beckfield Lane in York.
“If you have any CCTV or information of who could be responsible can you, please call 101 and quote incident number – 12260003897.”
