Police have issued an update into their investigation after the body of a woman was found in the River Ouse.
As we reported, the body was recovered from the river at Cawood south of York on Friday at about midday.
The woman has now been identified. She was 56 and from Hull.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “At this stage, no suspicious circumstances have been uncovered.
“A report into the death is being compiled on behalf of the coroner with support from Humberside Police.
“The woman’s family have been informed and are receiving support from the police at this difficult time.
“We are not in a position to name the woman.”
Anyone with information that could assist the report for the coroner, including possible sightings of a woman near the River Ouse at Cawood or towards Humberside, is asked to call North Yorkshire Police.
