Police investigate theft from York library

Police are investigating a theft from a York library.

Ten bags of gravel were taken from Acomb Explore library on Front Street.

The thieves also took a green recycle bin, believed to be used to transport the bags.

The theft happened between Friday 18 and Monday 21 October.

Building work is underway at the library as part of a £750,000 investment to extend and redevelop Acomb Explore.

The money, from City of York Council and the Arts Council, will create a larger children’s library, an enlarged café, an IT suite and an area for outdoor events.

Police investigating the theft are asking for anyone who saw anything suspicious or who caught anything on CCTV to get in touch.
