Police have urged people not to travel in parts of North Yorkshire due to the ‘treacherous’ weather conditions.
It comes as a yellow weather warning for snow and ice is in force.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The snow, ice and freezing temperatures have meant our country roads and back roads are particularly dangerous today, throughout the Ryedale, Whitby and Scarborough area.
“We are dealing with several road traffic collisions this morning due to the difficult conditions.
“Please only travel in these areas if you really need to, and stick to main roads where possible.”
