“Plan ahead” for Sunday road works along A59 west of York and on Carr Lane

City of York Council’s Highway Maintenance programme continues this summer with one-day road closures along the A59.

The works will take place on the A59 in both directions from the roundabout at the A1237 (York outer ring road) to the council’s boundary at the Moor Monkton turn.
The work on the A59 will be followed on the same day by surface dressing works on Carr Lane.
On both stretches of road they will be filling in potholes and doing surface dressing.
It will will run from 7am to 5pm on Sunday 28 June.

Signposted diversions will in place for motorists and cyclists on both routes.

On the A59:

Motorists will be diverted via the A168 and A19 through Dishforth and Thirsk.

You may choose to take alternative routes.

The 82, 83 and 84 Bus routes are unaffected as these services do not run on a Sunday,

Poppleton Park and Ride will remain open but visitors will need to access the site from the A1237, not the A59.

Cyclists will be routed along Marston Lane to join the B1224 near Rufforth and then onto Beckfield Lane.

On Carr Lane:

Motorists will be diverted along York Road, Acomb Road and Poppleton Road.

Cyclists will be required to follow the cycle diversion routes along Lindsey Drive and Manor Drive South.

All on street parking in the working area and within close proximity to the works will be suspended at these times, although specific access requirements may be arranged by speaking to the site traffic management operatives.

Where there are footways, pedestrian and mobility aid routes will remain open to the public, to allow residents safe access to properties and homes. Businesses will also remain open and emergency services will always be allowed through.
