Pictures: York firefighters rescue Bumble the pony

A rescue operation swung into action this morning after a pony’s escape attempt went wrong.

Bumble managed to get out of their paddock – but promptly got stuck in a cattle grid.

Firefighters from Acomb and Tadcaster were called in to help at the scene, near Moor Monkton, at 6am today (Monday).

The firefighters were helped by a vet from Minster Vets in York.

They used specialist lifting equipment to free the pony.

Group Manager Bob Hoskins said on Twitter: “Bumble was unharmed.”
