Something colourful is set to bloom in North Yorkshire.
Spilman’s Farm in Thirsk are launching their first Tulip Festival this spring.
The family farm has planted over 250,000 tulip bulbs over three acres in 50 different varieties – including Rhapsody of Smiles, Crystal Beauty, Uncle Tom, and Eagle Wings.
Spilman’s is known for its popular seasonal events like PYO pumpkins and PYO strawberries.
The new festival will celebrate the stunning spring flower, and throughout the season will feature tulips in bud and tulips flowering, creating a ‘cacophony of colours’.
Due to the variable flowering seasons, exact opening dates for the Tulip Festival is yet to be announced – but the farm plans to release the opening dates in early April once they know when the flowers will be ready.
The festival will feature five main sections that have been split by five metre walkways. The sections each include a mix of planted bulbs to ensure that visitors have a wide range of tulips to explore.

Unlike the pumpkins and the fruit, this event is not a pick-your-own! Enjoy the beautiful sight of the flowers and then the shop will sell pre-picked bunches of them for you to take home.
The field will have plenty of photo opportunities and an observation wheel, and there will also be wood fired pizzas (weekends only) and a bar onsite if you’re looking to make a full day of fun. Live music will also feature on selected days.
There will be loads of fantastic and impressive photo opportunities and an observation wheel.
Tickets for the festival are already on sale, and since the opening dates haven’t been announced yet, day passes are currently available for any day throughout the festival. Tickets are £8.11 (free for under 2’s).
