Man’s body found in Easingwold

A man’s body has been found in Easingwold.

It was discovered on open land on Friday. Police released the news today.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We can now confirm that the body found on open land near Easingwold on Friday has been formally identified as Robert Rees-Hughes.

“Robert’s family have been informed, and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

“Robert was reported missing to us on 29 November 2025, and extensive searches were carried out in the weeks that followed.”

Mr Rees-Hughes, who was 35, was last seen around 3.10pm on 29 November in the town. Officers said he had an injury, described as a gash, to the top of his head.

They released CCTV images of him on Crabmill Lane in Easingwold as part of the missing person’s appeal.

Mr Rees-Hughes family described him as “the most gentle and loving person”.
