Police have arrested a man following a string of burglaries on a York city centre street.
The five burglaries took place on Gillygate between 22 February and 5 March.
Three were at Love Cheese on 25 February, 27 February and 5 March, and two at Caesars restaurant on 22 February and 1 March.
A 34-year-old man was arrested on 5 March on suspicion of burglary. He has been released on bail whilst enquiries continue.
Police staff investigator Robert Oliver of the York Investigation Hub said: “No one should have to arrive at their place of work and discover their business has been broken in to.
“I would like to reassure the business owners of Gillygate and its surrounding areas that we’re investigating the break-ins thoroughly and will do everything we can to bring those responsible to justice.”
We reported last month how Love Cheese owner Jordan Thomson found his shop and café had been broken into on successive nights. He said he was “gutted and deflated” by the crimes.
