Updated: Lines reopen after person hit by a train near York

** The lines have now reopened **

Passengers travelling from York station are facing major disruption today.

It’s due to a person being hit by a train between York and Doncaster this afternoon. That has left all lines blocked.

Train company LNER said: “The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Doncaster and York / Selby.

“Whilst the emergency services carry out their work, all lines between these stations are closed. Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.

“Major disruption is expected until 6.15pm.”

Rail replacement buses are in operation between Doncaster and York. Passengers are asked to see station staff for further details.

LNER says you can use your ticket on the following train companies at no extra cost:

  • Lumo between London Kings Cross and Edinburgh
  • TransPennine Express between Manchester / Leeds and York / Newcastle
  • Northern between York and Leeds
  • East Midlands Railway between London St Pancras International / Leicester and Sheffield
  • CrossCountry between Sheffield / Doncaster / Leeds / York and Newcastle / Edinburgh
  • Great Northern and Thameslink between London Kings Cross and Stevenage / Peterborough
  • Hull Trains between London Kings Cross and Doncaster
  • Grand Central between London Kings Cross and York.

Hull Trains services will divert via Goole. Trains are unable to serve the following stations:

  • Howden
  • Selby

  • Northern services between Howden and Selby / Leeds
  • Northern services between Selby and Leeds
  • Northern services from Brough to Howden / Selby
  • TransPennine Express services from Brough to Selby
  • TransPennine Express services between Selby and Leeds
  • LNER services between London Kings Cross and Leeds
