Kitchen fire in building near North Yorkshire village

Firefighters were called to an incident off the A59 in North Yorkshire early this morning (Sunday).

A crew from Acomb went to reports of smoke in the kitchen of a commercial premises on York Road, Green Hammerton at 3.16pm.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

“A thermal imaging camera was used to check for hotspots and then a positive pressure ventilation fan was used to air out the property.

“The cause was deemed as accidental.”
