Horses rescued before horsebox consumed by fire

A horsebox was destroyed in a blaze earlier today (Sunday).

Fire crews from Selby and West Yorkshire went to the incident on Weeland Road, Eggborough at 9.13am.

The horses had been taken out of the horsebox to a safe location before the firefighters arrived.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “On arrival a 3.5 tonne horsebox was found to be well alight.

“Crew used one hose reel jet and two breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire which was believed to had started in the engine compartment.”
