If you live near York Racecourse do not be alarmed if you hear explosions and gunfire this afternoon.
An emergency training exercise is taking place from 1pm today (Wednesday, 15 March).
This involves the police, fire and rescue and ambulance services.
The sound of staged explosions and simulated gunfire may be heard by people living nearby.
“This is not a real incident” #999exercise,” police said.
York police tweeted this afternoon: “An emergency training exercise is taking place at York Racecourse from 1pm – 4pm today.
