A giant elephant is coming to York city centre.
York Bid is inviting families to enjoy an exciting free city-centre experience – as a life-sized animatronic elephant can be seen roaming the city on Saturday 6 June.
Towering over crowds at two metres tall, Jumbo the Elephant will explore the area around St Martin’s Clock on Coney Street.

With lifelike elephant sounds, playful interactions, and realistic movements, Jumbo the Elephant will bring a little bit of jungle magic to York.
Carl Alsop, operations manager at York BID, said: “We’re so excited to bring Jumbo the Elephant to Coney Street this June.
“This is our eleventh Family Friendly Saturday, and we’re incredibly proud to have welcomed thousands of families into the city centre through these playful, memorable experiences.”
The Family Friendly Saturdays are part of York Bid’s commitment to create welcoming experiences in the city centre for residents and visitors, and form a key part of this programme, transforming public spaces with large-scale installations and performances.
Don’t miss the chance to meet Jumbo the Elephant this June!
