Two men have been convicted of murdering a man who died after a machete attack in a York woman’s bedsit.
Michael Mulvana, 32, of Bright Street, Leeman Road, and Jobie Tyers, 35, who was living in a caravan in Gate Helmsley at the time of the murder, were both found guilty of murdering Indrit Mustafaj.
The pair attacked Mr Mustafaj, 26, of Bradford, with the long-bladed combat weapon after bursting into the woman’s home in Vyner Street, near Haxby Road, on 23 November last year.
Mulvana was also convicted of robbing Mr Mustafaj, wounding the woman with intent to cause her grievous bodily harm and causing grievous bodily harm to another York man.
He wasn’t in court to hear the verdict, having refused to come from prison to Leeds Crown Court.
Tyers, who was in court, was also convicted on to two GBH charges. He had already pleaded guilty to robbing the dead man.
The verdict comes at the end of a second trial. The first trial was ended part way through for legal reasons.

During the trial the court heard how Mr Mustafaj was visiting the named York woman’s ground-floor flat when the fatal stabbing occurred on 23 November, 2024.
Mr Mustafaj was stabbed several times and later died from a fatal wound to his thigh which pierced a major artery.
The other two victims were also seriously hurt.
Mulvana and Tyler fled, taking Mr Mustafaj’s coat and money, the woman called emergency services. Paramedics arrived quickly but were unable to save his life.
The sentencing is on Friday at Leeds Crown Court when the pair will be jailed for life. Judge Andrew Stubbs will also say how long they must serve before they can apply for parole.
