Updated: Pedestrian taken to hospital after collision with bus in York

One person has been hurt in a collision with a bus in York today.

Emergency services went to Gillygate after a crash late this morning.

It involves a First York bus which is now emptied and cordoned off.

A police guard remains near the junction with Bootham. Previously, two ambulances were at the scene.

No traffic is being allowed along the northbound carriageway of Gillygate heading out of town.

But the inbound lane is open.

North Yorkshire Police have confirmed there was a collision but no further details.

A Yorkshire Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received an emergency call at 11.15am on Tuesday morning to report a collision between a bus and pedestrian on Gillygate in York.

“An ambulance, specialist paramedic (critical care) and team leader were dispatched to the scene and one patient was conveyed to York Hospital.”
