Free tickets up for grabs as York Dungeon celebrates its 40th birthday

There is nothing more terrifying than getting older, and the York Dungeon hits the big four-oh this week.

The Clifford Street attraction is marking its 40th birthday by giving away 40 free tickets for York residents.

And you can also get entry with 40% off – all via this link.

Since opening its doors in 1986, York Dungeon has plunged visitors into the city’s most gruesome and gripping moments from history, from plague-ridden street and Viking raiders, to witchcraft, highwaymen, and the legendary Guy Fawkes.

The Lord Mayor and Town Crier will mark the official anniversary on Friday 3 July.

York Dungeon manager Mark Mattinson said: “York Dungeon is about bringing history to life in a way that’s thrilling, surprising and genuinely unforgettable.

“To celebrate forty years of fear, we wanted to do something really special for our visitors, and what better way to celebrate than inviting everyone to join the fun?

“If you haven’t been to York’s must-visit attraction yet, this is your sign. And if you have… trust us, there’s always something new to be afraid of…”
