Free family fun event in North Yorkshire set to be ‘an incredible day of music’

Get ready for Selby’s biggest day of free family fun coming back this summer.

Selby Town Council are once again bringing family fun to Scott Road Field with a whole day of children’s rides, bouncy castle, climbing walls, donkey rides, lots of live entertainment, and hot and cold food.

The Selby Family Fun Day will take place on Sunday 28 June.

Organiser Oli Brown

And YorkMix will be there once again with Selby College to help support this fantastic celebration of community spirit.

The day will also feature a full day of live music performances.

“We have got such an incredible line up,” organiser Oli Brown told YorkMix.

“It’s all local – so we’ve got a lot of bands from Selby, some people from York, some from Doncaster.

“Always at the fun day, we open with a charity called Emerging Talent that gives young people who are working with this charity the opportunity to open the whole day.”

The musical line up will kick off then with a young band from York called Astrestos, followed by one-man band Tom Merson, “Selby institution” Northern Velvet, legendary folk band Hyde Family Jam, indie rockers Bella and the Black Tones, cover band Funky Business, and the final band of the night: True Fighters, a Doncaster-based Foo Fighters tribute band.

“It’s going to be an incredible day of music!”

Treat yourself to something sweet

The festival is funded by Selby Town Council, ensuring that the fun is free so everyone can be part of the celebration.

“It costs absolutely nothing, thanks to Selby Town Council,” continued Oli.

“It’s a day for the town to come together and celebrate everything that is Selby and for this local community.

“This is going to be the biggest party Selby’s ever seen.”
