Police are investigating an outbreak of violence in York.
A man was attacked on Blake Street at about 10.30pm on Saturday 20 December.
Detectives say a group of youths were causing a disturbance outside McDonald’s and harassing members of the public.
A 46-year-old man intervened to protect another member of the public.
He was then violently assaulted by several youths and suffered serious injuries, including a broken arm.
An 18-year-old woman, a 16-year-old boy, and a 16-year-old girl have been arrested in connection with the assault and released on police bail while enquiries continue.
A 15-year-old girl has also been arrested and released under investigation.
Earlier police released a picture of a witness they wanted to come forward. The man appeared to have filmed some of the incident on his phone.
On Wednesday afternoon, a North Yorkshire Police spokesperson gave this update: “The witness who we wanted to speak to in relation to the assault on Blake Street, York in December has now come forward following our appeal this morning and is assisting our enquiries.
“Thank you to everyone who shared our appeal and helped us reach him.”
As a result we have taken down the pictures of the witness from our post.
