Flooded road slows traffic in York

A road in York is under several inches of standing water today (Sunday).

The problem is on Leeman Road, going through the tunnel.

It is not clear what is causing the problem, although a water mains leak is a strong possibility.

Cars are having to go through the tunnel more slowly than normal. The water is being cascaded onto the pavements by the traffic.

It is slowing up traffic at the junction, which is already controlled by temporary three-way traffic lights as work continues on the York Central site.

A water pump appears to be on scene.
