Fire crews responded to two incidents in York late last night (Friday).
At 10.39pm, they went to a kitchen fire on Fifth Avenue.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “York and Acomb responded to a hob fire which was out prior to fire crews’ arrival because the occupant had quickly extinguished the fire using a fire blanket.
“Crews inspected the hob with a thermal imaging camera to confirm there was no fire spread or hotspots. Advice was given to the occupants.”
Shortly afterwards, at 10.59pm, the Acomb crew went to an out-of-control bonfire in a garden on Cornlands Road.
The spokesperson said: “The occupant had attempted to extinguish the fire using buckets of water and a garden hose prior to the fire services arrival.
“Crews used a hose reel jet to fully extinguish the fire which remained confined to the garden only.”
