Firefighters rescue police officer from river in York

A police officer slipped and fell into the river in York early this morning (Tuesday).

It happened at 4.24am.

Crews from York and Acomb went to Tower Street responding to reports of the officer in the Foss.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews used a triple extension ladder to assist the officer out of the water.”
