Two fire crews were called in to investigate a potentially serious gas leak in York late last night (Wednesday).
Firefighters from Acomb and York went to a property on Strensall Road at 11.15pm.
An engineer investigating a smell of gas had called for their help.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The engineer identified a gas reading via a probe through the letterbox and requested our assistance to gain entry so they could investigate further.
“The crew used their gain entry kit and re-secured the door, leaving the incident in the engineers hands.”
