Firefighters called in after fuel leak at York petrol station

Firefighters have tackled a significant fuel leak at a petrol station in York.

It happened on Monks Cross Drive at 5.43pm.

A vehicle had leaked 8-10 litres of fuel on the petrol station forecourt.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews Isolated the petrol pumps and stemmed the leak using dammit paste to enable the vehicle to be moved off the forecourt. 

“Crews gave advice to the vehicle occupant regarding recovery and used sand to make the forecourt safe until a professional can clean up the fuel properly.”
