Fire started deliberately on Coney Street in York

Crews were called to a fire in York city centre early this morning (Friday).

Firefighters from the York station went to the incident on Coney Street at 2.08am.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “A crew from York responded to reports of a fire to a wheelie bin.

“The fire caused damage to contents only and was extinguished using one hose reel jet. The cause was deliberate.”
