Fire started deliberately in North York Moors wood

Firefighters were called to a fire in a wood last night (Friday).

It was off Peaslands Lane, Thornton Le Dale, east of Pickering.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Kirkbymoorside’s appliance responded to reports of a deliberate fire in the woods.

“Crews used two knapsack sprayers to extinguish and a thermal imagining camera was used for hotspotting. The incident was left with police.”
