Fire in York flat caused by overheated cooking

Firefighters were called to a fire in a York flat last night (Friday).

They went to the property on James Street at 5.48pm.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “York and Acomb fire crews responded to a fire which had occurred in a residential flat due to overheated cooking.

“The fire was out on their arrival and a positive pressure fan was used to clear smoke from the premises.”
