Fire crews respond to flooding call outs after lightning and torrential rain

Fire crews were called out to help with flooding after torrential rain caused problems in York and North Yorkshire overnight.

The first call out was at 5.01pm. A crew from York responded to flooding inside a home.

They used a portable pump to divert the water away from the property.

And at 6.05pm, Acomb crews responded to reports of flooding entering multiple properties. The water was diverted into a nearby drain.

There is more rain in the forecast for the next few days, but it is set to become drier at the end of the week.
