Fire crews rescue a tree surgeon suspended from a branch by their ankle

Crews from Harrogate and Skipton attended an incident where a tree surgeon had fallen and was suspended by their ankle.

It happened just before 11am today (Dec 5) at Cappleside, Rathmell in the Yorkshire Dales, near Settle.

The tree surgeon was approximately 15m meters above ground.

Crews stabilised the casualty using a rescue harness and utilised a safety line as they were assisted down a 13.5 meter ladder.

They were left in the care of the ambulance crew.
