Fire crews were called to student accommodation after concerns over a possible gas leak.
York firefighters went to the building on Sixth Avenue, York at 3.32pm.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “York crews attended a carbon monoxide alarm sounding in student accommodation.
“Crews isolated the gas supply, ventilated the property and gave advice to occupants to request a gas safe engineer.”
