A fire caused serious damage to the kitchen of a home in Selby this afternoon (Saturday).
Firefighters responded to a call at 1.29pm to an unspecified address in the town.
Two firefighters in breathing apparatus used a jet to put out the fire.
They then ventilated the property using a positive pressure ventilation fan.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The fire was caused by a toaster which ignited and then further spread to the kitchen cupboards.
“The damage caused was approximately 50% fire damage to the kitchen and 30% smoke damage throughout the rest of the house.”
