An empty York shop has been tempting passers-by with a cheeky peephole.
The window of number 17 Coney Street, next to Waterstones, is covered in brown paper.
But low down there’s a small hole cut out, below the words, ‘Go on… Take a peek…”
And through it there’s a QR code which reveals what will soon be opening in the empty unit.
It is (spoiler alert)… Yorkshire Burrito!
Despite its name, this is very much a London brand, with five permanent branches across the capital.

It gets its name from its “Yorkshire pudding wrap – an innovative and delicious way to enjoy a traditional Sunday Roast on the go”.
On the menu are beef, chicken and cauliflower cheese Yorkshire burritos. On Deliveroo, these are priced at £10.50, £10 and £9.50 respectively.
And they also do the magnificent-sounding ‘loaded roasties’: “Roast potatoes with grilled cheese, signature gravy and crispy onions. Choose from braised beef, roast chicken or cauliflower leek cheese.”
You can also try beef loaded mash and chicken loaded mash.
There’s no date yet for when the Yorkshire Burrito will bring its street food delights to Coney Street.
Number 17 Coney Street was previously home to the short-lived bubble tea shop Bubbleology, which opened in 2023.
Before that it was The Phone Store, Fone Land York and Rituals Home and Body Cosmetics.
If you sign up to Yorkshire Burrito via the Coney Street window QR code you’re promised one free burrito.
