The Grand Opera House York has revealed their Captain Hook for their 2026 pantomime.
The theatre have announced Yorkshire-born stage and screen favourite Tom Lister as the wickedly irresistible Captain Hook in The Further Adventures of Peter Pan: The Return of Captain Hook.
He joins the previously announced comedy actor Jimmy Bryant as Smee.
Tom Lister is best known for his performances in TV soaps including Emmerdale – where he played Carl King for eight years – Hollyoaks and The Bill, and stage roles in 42nd Street, Calamity Jane and Legally Blonde.
Lister is also no stranger to the world of pantomime – as he first claimed national recognition in the genre when he won Best Villain at the inaugural Great British Pantomime Awards.
Tom Lister said, “I’m so excited to be sailing into York this Christmas as Captain Hook – he’s a role I love, and I swear he gets more wicked and mischievous every year I play him!
“As a Yorkshireman, York is very close to my heart, and I can’t wait to spend Christmas in this beautiful city.
“I am really looking forward to teaming up with Jimmy Bryant to bring all of the festive magic and mayhem of Panto. So come aboard and join us, or you’ll be walking the plank!”
Producer Martin Dodd added, “We’re delighted that the wonderfully charismatic Tom Lister will be appearing as the deliciously devilish Captain Hook in this year’s pantomime, The Further Adventures of Peter Pan: The Return of Captain Hook at the Grand Opera House York.
“Tom brings real star quality to Neverland. Paired with the brilliantly funny Jimmy Bryant as Smee, audiences can expect a perfect storm of comedy, adventure and just a touch of villainous charm.”
Audiences can expect a production that pulls out all the stops: dazzling choreography, bold and imaginative staging, spectacular lighting design and a fast-paced script packed with laugh-out-loud comedy.
The Further Adventures of Peter Pan: The Return of Captain Hook runs at Grand Opera House York from Saturday 5 December 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027.
