Driver taken to hospital after car ends on its roof on coast road

A car crashed and ended up on its roof on a road near the North Yorkshire coast early this morning (Thursday).

Emergency services were called to the incident on Guisborough Road, Whitby at 12.03am

The driver was out of the vehicle when firefighters from Whitby and Lythe arrived.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews used the appliance winch to pull and flip the vehicle back to all four wheels so that it could be moved from the road safely.

“Crews remained on scene to provide welfare for the driver as they awaited the arrival of an ambulance for further medical checks.

“The driver was transferred to a road ambulance for transport to hospital. Crews used chocks, winch straps, extinguishers and a hose reel jet at this incident.”
