A fire closed a stretch of the York outer ring road this evening.
The A1237 was shut between Earswick and the B1363 Wigginton Road roundabout near the Roko Gym.
Police asked drivers to avoid the scene.
Crash location
It involved a horsebox on fire between on the bridge of the ring road between Wigginton and Haxby.
A witness said all the horses were safely rescued.
The road has now reopened.
