A beer garden at a York pub is receiving a lot of love after it was given an upgrade.
The Red Lion in Haxby is an independent family-run pub owned and managed by David Burton and Carole Clift. Its beer garden has recently had a whole new look – and patrons have been loving it.
Haxby resident Julia White posted into the Haxby and Wigginton Community Hub on Facebook about the new beer garden.
“Get down to the new beer garden at the Red Lion in Haxby,” she wrote. “What a make over! Lovely place for a pint.”
Positive agreements soon followed, with one customer writing “Looks fab, officially the best beer garden in Haxby now,” and another commenting “Wow never realised you even had this!”

The makeover includes new seating furniture, fresh paving, and decorative planting.
The pub thanked everyone for their ‘lovely’ comments and said that “the garden isn’t fully finished yet, still plenty to do in the next couple of weeks.”
The Red Lion in Haxby is open Tuesdays to Thursdays 5pm-11pm, and Fridays to Sundays, 12pm-11pm. They also serve food.
