Building on York street ‘set on fire deliberately’

An investigation has been launched after a fire in York today (Thursday).

York and Acomb firefighters were called to the incident on Alcuin Avenue at 12.31pm.

An outbuilding was on fire.

Fire crews put out the flames using a hose reel jet.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Once extinguished they used a thermal imaging to monitor hotspots.

“Crews gave advice to the responsible person on scene and the cause is believed to be deliberate. Fire investigation still ongoing.”
