Boys aged from 12 to 16 arrested after trouble in three parts of York

Police have arrested seven boys following incidents in three parts of York.

Two boys, aged 12 and 13, were arrested yesterday (Thursday) following criminal damage to a takeaway in Acomb and to an allotment shed in the South Bank area, as well as a public order offence.

They have been interviewed and released on conditional bail while enquiries continue.

Later that evening, a large number of young people were seen gaining access to a property in the Walmgate area.

Three boys, aged 16, 15 and 12, were arrested for burglary nearby and have since been released on conditional bail.

Two other boys, aged 13 and 16, were arrested in connection with the same burglary today (Friday) and are in custody.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “This type of behaviour will not be tolerated, and we will continue to take robust action to keep our communities safe.”
