The body recovered from the river in Malton has been formally identified as Victoria Taylor, police have now confirmed.
Ms Taylor, 34, went missing from her home in the town on 30 September, sparking a major search operation.
A body was discovered in the Derwent on Tuesday, close to where some of her belongings were found.
In a statement this evening, North Yorkshire Police said: “This is an update to confirm the formal identification of 34-year-old Victoria Taylor, from Norton, Malton, following the recovery of a body from the River Derwent at 11.45am on Tuesday.
“A post-mortem examination has also been completed.
“A file is being prepared for the coroner for an inquest in due course.
“Victoria’s family have been informed about this update. Our thoughts remain with them and we ask that their privacy is respected.”
On Wednesday, friends of Victoria, a care home nurse and mother of one, gathered by the river to leave flowers and light candles in her memory.
