A motorcyclist suffered serious head injuries after crashing into a lamppost in York.
The collision happened at about 8.16pm last night (Monday) on York Road, Haxby.
A 30-year-old biker riding a red Honda CBR motorbike hit a lamppost and a road sign.
Where the crash happened
He was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary by ambulance where he remains in a serious condition.
The stretch of road was closed for several hours while officers investigated the scene and the vehicle was recovered.
North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses and information about the incident.
