Armed police called to disturbance in York suburb

Armed police were called to an incident in York last night (Wednesday).

It began with what North Yorkshire Police described as a ‘disturbance’ in the Stuart Road area of Westfield.

Residents said they saw armed officers searching the fields around Stuart Road and Kingsway West areas.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Due to concerns for the safety of a man who claimed to have been injured and had since left the property, a search of the local area was carried out. 

“The man was located and was found to have minor injuries. However, no third party involvement was suspected.

” Those involved were offered advice in relation to specialist support from other agencies.”
