The custodians of a York nature reserve have expressed their alarm at what’s been happening there.
Askham Bog, off Tadcaster Road in York, has become partially frozen in the recent cold snap.
It’s run by Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.

In a social media post, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust said: “We’re alarmed at what we’ve seen at Askham Bog reserve this week including bike tracks and footprints on ice!
“Although the frozen bog might look magical, ice can be thin, weak and unpredictable.”
The trust added this plea: “Please don’t throw logs and sticks. It’s too dangerous for you, and also our staff who have to remove the debris that affects the water flow and habitat.”
