A special four-day market is coming to York

Celebrate Yorkshire Day in York with a four-day market of food, drink, gifts, and local products.

Organised by Make It York, the artisan market will aim to showcase the very best of the county, bringing together talented independent traders and producers from across Yorkshire.

The Yorkshire Day Market will take place on Parliament Street from Thursday 30 July to Sunday 2 August.

Browse a wide range of handcrafted goods, locally made products and delicious Yorkshire food and drink, making it the perfect opportunity to support local businesses and discover unique gifts and treats.

The Yorkshire Day Market isn’t the only way York is celebrating the annual celebration of Yorkshire’s history, culture and traditions.

More family-friendly summer activities taking place on Parliament Street include a Seaside Fun Zone, with a pop-up sandpit, classic fairground rides, face painting and themed selfie spots.

There’s a a self-guided Seagull Trail around Shambles Market, a special evening Makers Market in 29 July, street food at Thor’s and Shambles Food Court, and more.

Yorkshire Day was first celebrated on 1 August 1975 by the Yorkshire Ridings Society. It became an official civic celebration in 1985, when York hosted the first Official Yorkshire Day Civic Celebration.

Visit York is teaming up with attractions and experiences in York and beyond to give away some fantastic prizes for 14 days in the lead up to Yorkshire Day and the Yorkshire Day Market on Parliament Street.
