A ‘floating’ cinema screening of Jaws is coming to York

Experience Jaws in a way you’ve never seen it before…

Horror film festival Dead Northern are hosting a special screening of the classic Steven Spielberg thriller – on the water.

The floating cinema event will take place aboard City Cruises’ The River Prince boat on Saturday 25 April.

The 1975 film begins when a giant white shark fatally attacks swimmers on the shores of Amity Island, and Sheriff Martin Brody teams up with a marine biologist and a local fisherman to hunt down the creature.

Ticket holders will board the boat at King’s Staith Landing before setting sail along the River Ouse – and as night falls, the thrilling shark tale will unfold on screen while you’re surrounded by the water itself.

A pay-as-you-go bar will be available throughout the cruise, and seating is unreserved. The boat is covered and enclosed, so the event will go ahead whatever the weather.

Whether you’re a die-hard fan or seeing it for the first time, this is a chance to experience a true cinematic classic in a completely unique setting.

Places are extremely limited due to the size of the vessel (they’re going to need a bigger boat etc etc), so organisers expect the event to sell out quickly.

Is this quite possibly the most immersive way to watch Jaws imaginable? Find out, if you dare, by booking your tickets via Eventbrite.
