5% rise in some taxi fares in North Yorkshire to go to public consultation

As fuel prices remain high following the start of the war in the Middle East, some taxi fares in North Yorkshire are set to rise

North Yorkshire Council has agreed to raise  the maximum cost of taking a taxi by 5% in response to calls from the trade.

However it will go out to public consultation first.

Lisa Ridsdale – Contracts Manager for Take me Group spoke to executive members this morning and said it was needed to prevent a decline in the trade. She said if prices do not rise to meet real costs then it could mean the services was no longer there when people needed it the most.

The revised costs would only apply to hackney carriage vehicles – those used on the roadside, stand on a rank, or be pre-booked.
