Police have taken action against youngsters causing trouble in a popular North Yorkshire resort.
They were called to a report of 10 to 12 youths throwing glass bottles off the cliff onto the beach, nearly hitting families in Filey.
Officers also said they were subjected to “verbal anti-social behaviour” from the youngsters.
In response, North Yorkshire Police have issued a dispersal order covering Filey seafront and much of the town.
It means if anyone aged 10 or above engages in anti-social behaviour, then they may be told to leave the area. The person can then be restricted from the area for up to 48 hours.
Young people may find themselves being taken home to the responsibility of their parents, guardians or carers.
Any person found breaching the dispersal could be arrested.
The police said last night (Thursday): “We already have several youths being dispersed and then returned to their parents tonight.
“Parents, if you have your young people out tonight in Filey, please make contact with them to ensure that they are OK and not caught up in the disorder.”
The dispersal authority has been granted until Saturday 27 July 2024 at 4:39pm.
