Charity organisation York City Gymnastics are celebrating an outstanding weekend at a recent national competition.
Their trampolinists delivered a series of impressive results at the Inter Regional Challenge Cup, one of the key national events in the British Gymnastics calendar.
Reaching this stage was an achievement in itself – as gymnasts must first complete two qualifying rounds before progressing to the Yorkshire Finals, where only the top two gymnasts in each category secured a coveted place to represent Yorkshire in the Challenge Cup Finals.

York City Gymnastics were well represented with eight fantastic trampolinist competing for Yorkshire.
Saturday saw a wave of success for York City Gymnastics.
- Matilda Hartley taking silver in Trampoline Gymnastics (TRG) Level 1 Female 9–10 category
- Arlo Cadwell finishing 16th in the TRG Level 1 Male 9-10 category
- Oliver Matthewson winning gold in the TRG Level 1 Male 11–12
- Jessie Gallimore securing silver alongside Lauren Bottomley’s 7th place finish in the TRG Level 1 Female 13–17 event
- Skyler Beech added a gold medal in the TRG Level 2 Female 11–12 category
- Sophie Burnaeg placed 8th in the TRG Level 2 Female 15–18
On Sunday, Skyler Beech returned to the podium with a bronze in DMT Level 2 Female 11–12, and Isaac Wass achieved a top ten finish, placing 10th in TRG Level 3 Male 13–14.
These results cap off an exceptional weekend for the club.
Head Coach Mat Gallagher for York City Gymnastics said: “What a weekend. Our gymnasts gave it their all and made Yorkshire proud.
“Reaching the Challenge Cup Final is already a huge achievement, and to come away with medals and top ten finishes is a testament to their hard work and resilience.
“We’re incredibly grateful to the coaches and parents who supported the team throughout the event.”
After the weekend of national level success and strong representation for Yorkshire, York City Gymnastics are now looking ahead to future competitions with confidence.
