York shop hit by car boarded up as police reveal more details

The shop hit by a car last night was partially boarded up this morning (Wednesday).

A serious crash saw an Audi and Mini Cooper collide, and the Audi then smashed into the side of the N-Joy Supermarket, on the corner of Garfield Terrace and Kingsland Terrace.

It left a hole in the brickwork of the shop and the window was damaged.

The Mini nearly hit the doorway of the house next door to the shop.

Four people were hurt in the collision which happened at about 8.45pm. Two were taken to hospital by ambulance.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said today that the injuries sustained in the crash were “not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing”.



No one was arrested or charged by police.

The damage to the N-Joy store has been boarded over, and tyre tracks are visible in the grass verge.

Last night the fire service called out structural engineers to ensure the building was safe.
