York ducklings in distress saved by fire crew

Here’s a spring story to warm the heart at the end of the Easter holidays.

Some ducklings were in peril after getting stuck in a drain yesterday (Thursday).

It happened on Diamond Street, off Huntington Road in York.

Members of the public started a rescue operation, then called in the fire service.

Station Manager Tony Walker said: “These little ducklings got themselves stuck down a drainage pipe today but luckily our crew was on hand to help some kind members of the public to rescue them.

“Ducklings now reunited with their mum!”
